About the Maryland Certified Public Manager® Program
The Maryland Certified Public Manager© program is offered by the Schaefer Center for Public Policy, which is part of the University of Baltimore College of Public Affairs. Engaging faculty from the College of Public Affairs and practitioners from the field, the CPM program helps public sector and nonprofit managers attain and build upon their management skills.
The program is ideal for people who are preparing to move into supervisory or management positions, supervisors and managers who want to update their skills, and managers and supervisors who have professional or technical training in another field but do not have formal management training. CPM programs are accredited by the National Consortium of Certified Public Managers.
The program is a comprehensive course of study by which public managers can acquire and apply the best practices and theory to their management behaviors and strategies using prescribed sets of professional competencies. The curriculum uses theory as the foundation and applies it to practical problems facing the participant, their organization, and the citizens. Those who complete the program are awarded the Certified Public Manager® (CPM) designation which is a registered service mark of the National Certified Public Manager Consortium.
Offered primarily at the University of Baltimore, the program combines in-person and online learning experiences. Arrangements can be made to deliver the program at other sites.
